I joined the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology as an assistant professor in 1999. My main focus in research is in the field of signal transduction mechanisms in diabetes and to introduce novel therapeutic approaches to prevent or reverse diabetes-induced cardiovascular complications. I have been awarded several awards including KFAS (Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences) Scientific Prize in the Medical field in 2006. I also received a US. registered patent with colleagues at Faculty of Pharmacy, (Patent No. US. 9,238,019 B2. Issue Date: Jan 19, 2016). I was awarded best young researcher award from Research Administration Kuwait University in 2003. I worked on more than 20 funded research grants, published 74 peer-reviewed articles and presented 75 abstracts in local and international conferences. My contribution to many activities included teaching students in both undergraduate and graduate program, serving on thesis committees as well as acting as a thesis advisor. I have made a dedicated effort to improve cardiovascular research at Kuwait University especially in diabetes and hypertension, and to further pursue research for the benefit of the society.
